Have you ever noticed that exercising feels easier when your favourite song is playing? Sometimes, music can give us extra motivation, especially during a difficult workout.Research suggests that listening to music during exercise can improve mood, increase enjoyment and reduce how hard physical activity feels. This is known as perceived exertion. Music may also help us maintain a steady rhythm during repetitive movements like walking or running. As a physiotherapy student, I find this interesting because motivation is an important part of physical activity and rehabilitation. When people enjoy an exercise, they may feel more willing to continue doing it regularly.Of course, music does not magically make our muscles stronger. Its effects can depend on personal preferences, exercise intensity and the type of music we choose.Personally, I think a good playlist can make a long training session much more enjoyable. Sometimes, a small change in our environment can make staying active feel less difficult.
