Can Childhood Development Predict Teen Academic Success?

Hey curious minds! A new UK study just found that how you develop as a kid can impact how well you do in school as a teen.

What the study found:
Researchers followed 9,000+ kids from age 3 to 14 and discovered:

  • Kids with early or ongoing learning and behavior issues were 4x more likely to struggle with exams
  • Those with behavior issues that started later had 2.5x higher risk of failing
  • The biggest risk? Kids with both cognitive and emotional challenges over time

About 1 in 6 exam struggles were linked to these early development problems.

Why it matters:
Helping kids early with learning or emotional struggles can make a huge difference in their future success. It’s not just about grades—it’s about giving every child the tools to thrive.

Stay curious. Stay kind. Support growth.
